Behind The Drums
Growing up in Puebla, Mexico, I first started playing drums thanks to my dad. I don't think he ever imagined that handing me a pair of drumsticks would give me a lifelong purpose, and I'll always be grateful for that.
What began as a simple curiosity soon became a passion for music, learning, and personal growth.
That passion eventually took me to Los Angeles, Boston, and Toronto. Along the way, I attended Berklee College of Music before earning my Bachelor of Music degree from Humber College.
I've also been incredibly fortunate to study with some of the world's leading drummers and educators, including Matt Starr, Gary Chaffee, Thomas Lang, Juan "Carlito" Mendoza, Larnell Lewis, Dom Famularo, and Henrique De Almeida. I know I'm standing on the shoulders of giants, and I'll always be grateful for their generosity, knowledge, and patience.
Those experiences have shaped not only the way I play, but also the way I teach, perform, and approach music every day.
Today, whether I'm teaching, performing, or recording, that same passion continues to guide everything I do.
